Stockton    18 teams, 2/24-25 – Sunday rained out. Complaints of games running late causing teams to play under lights, no field    prep for afternoon games.

Davis 12 teams, 3/3-4 – Lost use of BLD in Redding had to move to Davis. Then lost one field because of not ready for play and     could only play one division. Complaints of lack of communication between TD and Managers even though it was posted on web    site and on the rain out number at 7:30 Friday night. However, due to the number of complaints received over the years about TD    Lenny Lungstrom’s handling of tournaments, the board has decided not to place his tournaments on the schedule for 2008 season.       Pleasanton   22teams,   3/10-11 – Well run, no complaints.

Manteca    30teams,  3/10-11 – Liked fields, ran on time and winners enjoyed receiving cash awards. Complaints received about having to pay admission to the park and bracketing of 70+ playing a 60+. (Reminder to managers that we go by parity not ages)

Brentwood   16teams,   3/17-18 – Lost 2 fields at last second & no concessions.  Complaints about 65+ & 70+ playing on open field, umpires working to many games looked tired, no pitching rubber on a field, outfields had been aerated & infield not kept up.

Fremont 30 teams, 3/24-25 – Mixed opinion about the ball, some liked them and some thought to hot. Followed recommended    bracketing & scheduling but some games went long causing some teams to play under lights.  Lack of maintenance on Sunday and    some games had to be umpired by players as some scheduled umps failed to show.

Yuba City 17 teams, 3/24-25 – Good facility, balls and well run.

Hayward 28 teams, 3/31-4/1 – Complaints about umpire’s not handling base runner contacting infielder properly or runners    missing base to avoid contact.  There was a lack of field maintenance at both locations with some batter boxes in poor condition.

Folsom 30teams, 3/31 – 4/1 – Complaints about lack of or proper field maintenance and the ball used was good in the morning    and mush in the heat of the afternoon.

Davis 4 teams, 4/6-7 – Complaints of umpires not knowing senior rules and ball was dead. Results not turned in.

Rankings – 98 teams registered to date. No changes to the Rankings dated 4-7-07.

All games to be played at Big League Dreams with Northgate only being used if time doesn’t permit to complete all games at BLD. John Reedy will be in charge of obtaining /scheduling of umpires and be the on site UIC. Reedy will be reimbursed for his time.

New Business – Bob Swarthout gave a presentation on the Rip-It bat and explained the rating of the yellow model as to get it approved for use in NCSSA tournaments. Some members felt that this could be liability issue. A decision was made to follow the guide lines of Senior Softball USA, and allow any bat that is approved by them to be used in NCSSA sanctioned tournaments. At the present time the Yellow Rip-It has not been approved for use by Senior Softball USA.

Schedule changes: Manteca September 29/30 will be at Northgate Park, tournament director is Cathy Cortez, 209-239-8470.

Dean Perkins, TD of the Hayward tournament, reported that the Manager of MAC ll, Mike Clary acted inappropriately at the last game on 4/1/07 violating rule 23. Since they are a new team, Mike Clary will only be sent a warning letter.

Board discussed some of the concerns shown by members in there critiques of recently played tournaments. Such as: games running late causing teams to play under the lights (violating our rules), sun in players eyes (especially the pitcher), bats (use of Ultra ll) and balls (47 / 525) used. Critiques sent in said that the combination of the two are to hot. The board was split on the use of the 1 & 1 count not agreeing that it would help speed up the game. Other idea is to instruct TD’s to not allow warm ups (pitchers or infield) after the 1st inning. Regarding the bat (ultra ll) and the ball (47 cor) they are both approved by our rules which is voted on by the members. We do encourage the use of our Baden 44/375 ball. Early on in the season it is difficult to avoid playing under the lights.

Checking our bylaws it was found that the board has authority to take action when needed. Any action taken can be vetoed by the membership at a general meeting.

Old Business - Orders for the Baden softball, NCSSA’s official softball, have slowed according to Pete Davignon. Tournament Directors wanting balls should call Pete at 530- 343-7344 or email him at idmgroup@sbcglobal.net.

Next meeting – will be 5 pm, June 16 at Gary Tryhorn’s residence in Brentwood.

Another meeting is scheduled for July 25 at 1pm in Lodi. (Location TBA)

Meeting adjourned at 5:49 pm.
